Nice sized oval in a fine medium tone level pink.#265

A fine middle of the road pink in a flashy oval.#265 This oval really has nothing wrong with it. Its medium tone level sets off the bright pink color. It appears to be eye clean and have fine crystal. It weighs 2.49 carats.

After looking at pink after pink because of the way my son organized about half the trays in the collection, it is surprising to think how rare a fine pink is in the world of gemstones.  Put that on top of pink tourmaline being one of the October birthstones and you get to a new level of wonder.  Why have about 90 percent of the people in Mars Pa never heard of tourmaline?

I am trying to change that and bring beauty, like this oval, into peoples lives.  Here is a natural gemstone with a striking pink that I have to admit is common in the collect.  But that doesn’t diminish it beauty.  It appears to be eye clean and has fine crystal.  Its medium toned pink color is well saturated and ready to flash in the light.  It weighs 2.49 carats.

About Bruce Fry

I was born in Summit, NJ in 1947 and graduated from Summit High School in 1966. I graduated from the Colorado School of Mines in 1970 and after spending another year in graduate school, I left to see the world of Brazil. After spending some more time discovering myself, I ended up working for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for 32 years as an Air Quality Engineer in the Department of Environmental Protection. I retired in 2007 and took up faceting gemstones again after a long hiatus that reached back to my twenties. I had started cutting cabochons when I was 13 and bought my first faceting machine when I was 15, but ran out of money and time until I retired.
My great love in gemology is tourmaline and the collection presented here represents my effort to get as much beauty and variety in the colors of tourmaline as I can. I was particularly lucky in being able to get unheated cuprian tourmaline before copper was discovered in gem grade tourmaline from Mozambique.
