Purple Tourmaline Gemstones
Oval – 1 to 5 Carats
This oval is the best saturated purple in the collection that does not have copper as a chromophore. The purple which is still a reddish purple floods in from the ends of the moderately dichroic oval. It has one principle feather that is eye visible. The flaw does impact the gemstone, but it is minimized by the great rich color. It weighs 2.71 carats.
With cuprian purples, I go for biggest stone I can cut with the proper angles. Cuprian purples are mostly included with non flashing inclusions after you get rid of the major flaws/feathers. And that is what is under the table of this oval. None of them left a mark on the table when I polish it and while visible by eye, they have little impact on this beauty. The stone has great color, clarity and fine crystal. It weighs a very nice 1.63 carats.
